The first edition of Safari Central is available in stores now!
We're proud to announce that the "Preview" application that we were promoting during the Kickstarter is now available for everyone to download and play. And to promote its launch, we're running a photo competition to see who can come up with the best photograph using the app, and win a stunning 7 day safari in South Africa, including 3 days and nights with one of our partners at Tswalu Lodge and a chance to meet Rockstar the pangolin face to face.
The app can be downloaded for free and in-app micro-payments go directly to our conservation partners to help in the conservation of the first animals in the game. Anyone can join the competition (unless you are related to us...sorry mom) You can read all about it here: www.safaricentralgame.com or download the app directly for either iOS or Android.
So, get the app, fool around with our furry (and scaly) friends, show off your photos, and submit your best shots for a chance to win in the first competition of its kind. All tasteful photos will get extra some love from us too.
Remember, this is just the first step. Your backing of Safari Central will be directly used to create the next version, with more animals, a better augmented reality experience, and more features...all leading to the eventual fully featured game next summer.
We're still getting the Rewards survey ready - it was a little more complicated than we thought, but we should have it out to you by next week - remember to look out for a mail from BackerKit, who we are using to organize everything and make it a better experience for you.
Thanks everyone and remember to let us know if you have any questions at all.

Kickstarter is still processing the credit cards and we're organizing our rewards survey to send out to our backers in about a week. The news in the meantime is that we've closed our Animal Poll and we have a clear winner: the Snow Leopard from the Himalayas.
A number of animals made a late charge at the top 4, like the Western Lowland Gorilla from the Congo and the Emperor Penguin from Antarctica, but ultimately, the orangutan, sea turtle, polar bear, and snow leopard were the most requested animals for us to animate next.
What we will do next is reach out to organizations we know and don't yet know about their work with snow leopards and discuss a partnership that would allow us to bring snow leopard data into Safari Central and drive benefits back to an awesome snow leopard conservation project. While we can't guarantee these type of partnerships because there are a lot of things involved, you prioritized the snow leopard and therefore so will we. It is critically endangered, mysterious, beautiful, and lives in a fascinating ecosystem high in the mountains. It will make a great addition to Safari Central.
We love all the animals in our poll, the ones some of you wrote in, and many others, and as we create new partnerships to bring in any new animals, we'll keep you up to date. In case you are interested in the raw data (which of course we always are), here are the final results.
We did it!

Thanks to everyone for your help in making the first day a huge success. We're well on our way to where we need to be, and the faster we get there, the more we can concentrate on reaching the stretch goals for more animals and more features. We are now all in this together and that feels great. Welcome to the pride.
