Wildeverse is live! Everywhere.
about 4 years ago – Fri, Apr 03, 2020 at 01:49:26 PM

Dear friends of IoE!

More than two years ago, you kindly backed our Safari Central campaign to help us kickstart the development of our first commercial game about wildlife.

Through many twists, turns, and pivots I’m very proud and excited to say that today, we are launching the full version of Wildeverse worldwide!

We’ve had user test launches, soft launches and a first version with one character...but now the game is truly live for iOS and Android, with indoor and outdoor play mode, four apes and two habitats, and it’s available in all countries.

Get it here for iOS and here for Android.

Now more than ever we need alternative ways to connect with nature, and we hope that Wildeverse is one of the ways to do so, for you, your family and your friends.

It was initially intended to be played only outdoors, but given the current circumstances, we’ve made updates that make it just as easy to play in your living room or backyard.

Now I have one last favor to ask of you (disguised as 4 favors):

  1. Download the game. The game is compatible with an iPhone 6S or higher or recent Android phone.

  2. Play the game and check out your name in the credits, as we promised during the Kickstarter campaign.

  3. Rate the game on the app stores and leave a comment. This helps other people to discover it. Be honest...but...well, if you really hate it, just email us directly rather than leaving a bad review  :)

  4. Help us get the word out. Share the news with your networks. You can, for instance, share a picture you take while playing or use the one we’ve included above. Just let people you know that Wildeverse is out there, that you helped make it happen, and encourage them to try it. We’ll leave it to you how you do that.

Since it was so long ago that you backed the game, here’s a reminder on what Wildeverse is:

  • An Augmented Reality mobile game about Fio the orangutan, Chilli the white-bearded gibbon, Buka the lowland gorilla and Aida the chimpanzee.

  • You play a wildlife scientist helping the Wildeverse team track and study the apes’ lives and their habitat.

  • Transform your home, yard or neighborhood into a digital jungle and find real wild apes!

  • Look for animals, fruit, poop, and other things you might find tromping around the jungles of Borneo and Congo.

Thank you once again for helping us make this game happen, and for your patience along the way. Stay healthy, stay sane: enter the Wildeverse!

🚀🚀🚀 Wildeverse is live today!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 12, 2019 at 01:01:17 AM

Wow. Moment of glory. We’ve just pressed the release button, which means Wildeverse is live in 193 countries (the USA and UK will have to wait a bit longer*). Goosebumps.

We’ve created a little video to get you excited to join the team. 👇

A major shout out to all of you for backing us these past few years. Couldn’t have done it without you. Seriously. Could. Not. Have. Done. It.

Let me not get all sentimental though, we need you to jump in and help us with field research for Fio and Chilli asap! It’s been piling up while we were debugging the tech.

Download Wildeverse for free from the App Store and Google Play today.

PS: While you play this version, behind the scenes we’re adding a whole new environment with two more animals (Buka, the lowland gorilla, and Aida the chimpanzee) and some nifty new features. This update is ready for you in April 2020, just in time for the UK and USA launch.

See you in the Wildeverse!

Amyra

* Wildeverse will be available in the USA and UK app stores from April 2020

Meet Fio, Chilli and Buka
over 4 years ago – Thu, Aug 22, 2019 at 03:34:37 PM

Hey there friends. Wherever you are.

I’m Amyra. Right now I’m at Wildeverse HQ in Kenya, in Nairobi. I'll be your main point of contact from now on. Now - here's a quick intro to the real-life animals we're currently projecting into Wildeverse, and who you'll soon be tracking... as soon as we’ve ironed out our tech. It’s been longer than we’ve hoped, but we are ON IT.

First up, we’ll bring the Borneo rainforest to an Access Zone near you. My colleague Eka at the Borneo Nature Foundation over there can really use your help.

This is Fio- a teenage orangutan who loves fruit and sleeping (who doesn’t?). You’ll find out all about it because you’ll be tracking everything that goes in Fio's mouth - and what comes out at the other end...

Then there’s a gibbon called Chilli. We spotted him while tracking through the forest last Autumn - following his trail of songs. You might have to run to keep up with him - he moves fast!

Next year we’ll be able to connect you to the Congo. That’s where Buka lives; a massive bloke and legit lowland gorilla. He’s involved in a major battle for territory right now. Our peeps at the Goualougo Triangle Ape Project are keeping an eye on him in the meantime, but they can use some more boots on the ground. It’s a good thing you are joining the effort, rookie.

So, yeah. See you soon, hopefully.

Meet the humans of Wildeverse
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 23, 2019 at 07:36:08 PM

You already know Wildeverse will be all about real animals. But what about the humans? While the team is putting the final touches on the game, it’s time to get to know the people you will work with on your missions.

Espoir from the Congo is an animal life expert and can tell you all you never wanted to know about the mating rituals of bat-eared foxes and the poop pattern of a honey badger. He’ll give you the animal stats you will need on your missions. He spends months at a time in the remote jungle working with the Goualougo Triangle Ape Project. That means lots of canned beans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but surprisingly good wifi.

Eka is a sassy data head who’s not afraid to get a little dirty. When she's not playing JRPGs, you will find find this young Indonesian scientist with her knees deep in swamp water most days. As Eka is an ecosystem expert at the Borneo Nature Foundation, she’ll help you understand the environment that our wildlife stars live in.

Last but not least: Amyra will be your first point of contact. As the inventor of Wildeverse technology, she is in the lead. If she sometimes strikes you as bossy, that’s because she’s the boss.

On another note - we will be handing over the communications on Wildeverse to Amyra from here on out, so we’ll let her introduce the animal characters next!

Stay tuned!
